hey guys, i'm wondering if someone here could give me a hand. i'm looking for an engine to replace the 400 that just decided to throw two rods in my 73 grand am (R.I.P. 472 HP. lol). sicne it's nearly impossible to find a 455 poncho anywhere on this island and shipping one in would break the bank, i'm wondering how difficult it would be to swap in a buick 455. i have one in my reach and i'll definitely go for it if it's feasible. i was told all i needed were a set of buick mounts and i was ready to go, but another person told me i'll have problems with the power steering pump due to the different location of the distributor. any of you guys know how easy or difficult this swap would be and if it's worth my time? thanks a million in advance. :)

I have never done the switch, but i think it's possible. Contact TA Performance (480) 922-6807/ www. TAPERFORMANCE.com or Poston 251-368-8577. Inform them of your project and ask for help. You'll need things like engine mounts so they should be able to help you. Sorry this is all I can offer.

I'd like to see some pics of the swap:TU:
One of my cousins used to have a '78 Grand Prix SJ...with the SJ part missing, lol. The original engine threw a rod (more to do with the previous owner adding oil only when the rods clunked than a poncho problem  ). If I recall correctly, oil changes where a huge hassle on that replacement poncho engine...with the Buick 455 it might be soooo much easier since the filter's in front:TU:
