I have a 455 buick engine + 2x4 offy 360 intake. Im planning to buy TA 413 cam, also I found two deals one is 2 x 450cfm Holley 4160 s the other deal is 2x 500cfm Edelbrock s with linkages.

my powerband will be 2000-6000 rpm with this cam what size of carb I should use with this combo?
ps* my Cr will be 10,50:1

*I calculated it through smokemup calculator, it says 710cfm for 6000rpm.

What would be the result of oversized carb? 2x500 cfm deal is very good price for me I dont want to miss this deal but I dont want to invest for useless parts too.

    Thanks.

I'm not sure, but I think only 710 cfm is a bit low for that combo. I'm running Poston's 113A cam which is very similar to T/A's 413. I have a Holley 950HP, which is a holley 850 upper and 950 lower system/setup. I have it jetted properly and the car runs great. I'm actually running out of gas as I approach 120+mph. But I think that's a fuel pump issue, not the carb.

As many other threads have said here, Buicks seem to love bigger carbs. Even from the factory they came with 750 q-jets and later ones with 800 q-jets.

I believe Denny and Renee Moore's car has a 1050 Dominator on it. You'd have to track them down and ask them which cam/setup they have from Earick Racing Engines, but they run in the upper 11's.

I wouldn't go smaller than the two 450's if it were me. Just my $.02.

I am running a 455 with the offy 2x4 and I am using 2 edelbrock 600 cfm carbs. I have played with them a lot and I currently have them set up close to as delivered calibration. This maybe a little rich but I want to test at the track if it ever stops rainning.

I am drive this car all around town and to the track. The car does not stumble or buck and it is very responsive.

I think 2, 500 cfm carbs sounds just about right.

    Thanks for the replies.

I ll go throuh the 2 x 500cfm Edelbrock deal, I ll use EDL progressive linkage kit.

This was my first post on this board, thanks for your help.
I ll keep on asking questions, I m new to the Buicks and non chevy engines. My other ride is a 1974 Z28 Camaro LT. I ll install this 455 to a 68 Lemans clone GTO. I found wfn fiberglass front end kit + ram air4 hood. custom interior race seats etc.

Anyway I ll keep on posting.
