I am interested in buying a 63 Riv and I have an engine question. It says on the aircleaner Wildcat 445. Is this the engine size? The guy who is selling the car said that 445 was not the engine size and that it refered to the torque of the motor. Can anyone tell me what cubic inch motor came in a 63 Riv and what would a running motor be worth?:Do No:
    Thanks, Tony

The seller is correct. The 445 wildcat is a 401.

The 425 was also available in the 63 Riviera, but it would have 465 (torque) on the air cleaner. The 425 is worth a little more since there were only about 100,000 made vs. millions of 401s. I have seen running 425s for $350 and 401s for less. 425 pistons are harder to come by and more expensive when rebuilding the engine. Most people have no use for the Nailhead in this day and age. I have even seen a nice running 425 given away. That is the one thing that favors us Nailheaders some. :Brow:
