  1. Hey,
Anyone here done the swap to the 430 heads?
Is it worth installing 430 heads without stage 1 valves for the compression bonus alone?, what performance gain will i really get these are going to go on a stock 73 shortblock. The heads are 68's off a 68 riv. Also I want to use my stock rocker assy so I don't have to change pushrods ,this an ok setup or should I get the aftermarket pushrods and use the 430 rockers and shaft? Also in stock form what is the largest cam i could comfortably install without any porting? Not gonna do this unless I will net at least a noticable gain in performance. Current CR is 8:5.1

I also have a stage 1 73 riv. The 430 heads will make a big difference, Expecaly if there big port. I have 70 heads on mine with a 113 and a performer and it pulls real strong. If you use the 73 rockers you won't have any problems.
