I have a 430 engine that has a blown head gasket between 3&5 I pulled the heads and found #5 piston is missing about one third of the piston lip. The heads are in the shop to be machined and valve job. (Well it is on hold.) The heads can be machined for $230.00. so my question is what to do know since I got another engine for the car. Anyone have any suggestions? The engine is hooked to a 400 long tail that works great. The intake and heads have been cleaned by the machine shop. The engine is complete and was running. I also have a valve gasket set and valley pan gasket. Do I get the heads done or sell them as is? Assemble the engine less the gaskets and sell it? The cylnders are in good cond as far as wear. I am located in new mexico if anyone is interested in buying it.

The 430 is a GREAT engine. If numbers matching is any consideration, rebuild it. It will last another 40 years if you do it right.
