Most seem to be "Coupled" with the "Switch Pitch Torque Converter Transmission" a TH 400 '64-'66 Running, for about a Grand. If the Naihead has a Dual Quad, Expect to pay an Additional $200.00
Tom is right about the SP 400's adding cost. The SP trans are getting harder to find. For that matter, any Nailhead trans is harder to find each year. A complete dual quad setup with intake and breather can bring near $1500 online right now. I saw a quick down switch from a dual quad setup on a 64 Buick bring $240 by itself on Ebay!! I just paid $2,000 for a complete rebuilt 425 with all dual quad items in place. I also just bought a complete running 425 with Q-Jet for $500 that only has 20 K miles on it after rebuild. Just depends on how lucky you are or how hard up you are.
Also, from my experience, manual trannys are impossible to find for the nailhead. After searching for about a year+, i finally found a setup for "only" $1500! Granted, it was complete, but the tranny was frozen, and the linkages/driveshaft/flywheel needed lots of TLC, as well as it required a new clutch/pressure plate. I remember someone selling their setup on here for the same price, including a rebuilt tranny, which i thought was a steal! I don't know how we got started on the tranny aspect in this thread, but I figured i'd throw in my 2.
Is there anywhere online that I could find a nailhead for sale? Or do I just have to search the junkyards and swap meets?
