how many quarts does buick riviera motor take ? and whats the best oil weight to put in it ? ne1 use royal purple b4?
5 with the filter,,,, be double sure to use zinc additive.. no matter what oil you use ... that way your engine is safe....and dont use fram filters....Buick engines and fram filters dont do well together....
I use full synthetic with STP treatment. Plenty of ZDP in STP and it's only a couple of bucks. BTW, I use 10W 30 and no leaks or problems in my nailheads.
I filled the filter before putting it on, and only used 4 quarts. It is a shorter oil filter than normal though - that's probably where the 4 vs 5 discrepancy comes from.
STP oil treatment? I wouldnt mind saving a few dollars on this either. I just bought some ZDDPlus from the local speed shop and paid 10 bucks for 4 or 5 ounces. No highjacking intended.:TU:
thanx everyone for the help.. so thats bout 5 quarts synthetic 10w30 or 40 ..and how much zdp do u add? to the 5 quarts usually
I heard there was negligible zddp in STP oil treatment (and virtually all other over the counter additives) isn't zddplus the only way to go? I've never used anything but "lead additive" in the gasoline, but have starting thinking about zddplus in the oil lately. (Do I need both?) I use Valvoline durablend 10w30 in my cars and it usually takes about 4.5 quarts for the 364, 401 and 440.
The way I understand it lead additives go in the gas tank,,,, zinc additives go in the engine oil or trans oil or diff oil.....
personally i use castrol gtx 10w40 with one bottle of zddplus + wix oil filter. i change the oil twice each year.
