I am a new nailhead owner and trying to get mine to run. Not having any luck at all either. Almost everything has been replaced but no such luck.
When I was checking the oil I saw that dipstick said 4 qts. Is this right????????????? it baffels me. I can't emagine this. I would assume that it would take atleat5 qts. My ol' lady drives a 94 sunbird with a 4 banger and it takes 5 qts.
What kind of oil does everybody run in there Nailhead?

Valoline straight 20W, 401 takes 5qts. (includes oil filter) 4 qts if oil filter is not changed.

I run straight weights also. Depending on the temp- 30, 40, or 50. I usually only run 50 in July/August if I am going to do trips more than 2hr each way. I run 30 in my pop's 61 LeSabre year round.

    running Valvoline Maxlife 10-40

for engines with 75,000 or more miles, with a Mobil1 filter. Seems to be good, and may be burning less oil than before.
Only ran it about 150 or so, so far.

I think most people on this board will tell you Valvoline, or a Royal Purple product. Some people like using an oil formulated for diesel engines.

Castrol GTX 20-50 High Mileage (stopped my gasket leaks) with a Purolator 30005 filter.
