i was wondering what some of you guys are running for total timing. 32? 34? 36 ? what are you setting base @? i have locked out the msd dist and now i am just messing with timing a little tring to feel out the setup. i can still pull timing out once i start to come into boost with the msd 6btm.

Paul we run 42-44 degrees in the Mag(no adjustment). We have found that engines are like people and everyone likes different things:Do No: . We have always run our gas cars hard up a hill, and advance to you get a soft detonation and back off the timing about 3-4 degrees.
We always ran our Wildcat GS 2X4 at around 38-39 degrees all in. If you set the timing at factory spec it slowed down. That car could run! The engine from that car is what is in the dragster on alcohol. The blown nitro engine will start out at about 30 degrees and move up at 2 degrees a pass until it slows. Back up the run same result = back off the timing.

Wow, that's a lot of advance! I've always read 30-34 degrees max, but I've never tried any more than that....maybe I should! I bet my blue car could tolerate more timing. :TU:

Paul, I'd suggest playing it safe with 30-32 degrees max by 3000 rpm, then pulling it back with the boost, to the mid 20's or less.....you'll have to experiment.
6-10 degrees initial advance will help low-end response.
