It is in a 66 GS Skylark with a 2 speed auto tranny, ABF 4 barrel carb

Ok, I am going to be a pain in the ars. It is a "400" because there never was a 401 in a 66 Gran Sport, at least not by any book. It is actually a 401, but Buick called it a 400.

I am not being picky, I just want to be sure Ron knows that. :)

Thanks guys! This nailhead is the funnest thing I ever worked on. I just wish there was some place to get info for it fast. Its hanging in the garage, all rebuilt ($3600.00) looking awsome, and I can't find the little things to make it go. How do you post pictures in this forum have alot from the hole process on the digital camera that I'd love to share

    Thanks agian

I believe the 401 cid nailhead engine was introduced in 1959 and had a production run through 66. About the time of the 66 GM production run for cars some say that GM corporate forbid greater than 400 cid in the small/ medium bodies except the Vette. So the name for 401 was in some place changed to "400" until an actual non nailhead true 400 cid was introduced in 67. The 67- 69 engine is completely differrent but rounds off to 400 cid.
