4 Speed E Brake Cable Routing

Is it not correct that although a 70 GS 4 speed has the slot in the trans cross member, the E brake cable routing, unlike the Turbo 400, is over the cross member. In other words since the 4 speed cable at that location is the same part number as the Th 350 cable, and not the 400 cable, it is routed over the cross member like is shown in the Assembly manual for the TH350 at page 5-9.1, View A.

So for 4 speed big block cars the slot is present but remains unused. Somewhere we saw a pic of a 4 speed resto that was still trying to use the slot and we commented on it. However, I cannot find that post.

Well, that answers that question about my 70. I wondered why they didnt use the slot.

    Thanks! :TU:

If you look closely at the 70 Assembly Manual the only set up shown that has a cable that actually goes through the slot is a TH 400. The correct 4 speed routing has to be deduced from identlty of part numbers between the 4 speed cable set up and the TH 350 set up and the cross member part number for all the 455s. I just needed some confirmation from one of you. I think Scott had picked up on this little twist in the past also.
