I have always called those types consolettes and to be honest I am not sure why except to mean "short." Come to think of it I do not remember seeing a 4 speed in a long console, like an auto console, except in something like a Wildcat --never in a GS. Have you ever seen a 4 speed GS with a long console?

Did the consolette ever come with bench seat cars or was it buckets only? I assume that it wouldn't clear the bench but figured I'd ask anyway. :)

Bucket seats only. I would also like to know why sellers always ay extremely rare. Pf you go to a Buick meet there are always a few for sale. It seems there are more 4 speed consoles than there are cars to put them in.

If you happen to run across one or even see a 4 speed console for sale for 70-72 Skylark I would like it if you could let me know the going rate for one in excellent condition.

Andrew, the going rate for a complete setup (no broken studs) is around $200-250 or so. Expect to pay a bunch more for one with a working tach for 65-69 cars. My brother bought a very nice example in BG last year for $200 I think.
