I have a new in the box 118 that I'm not going to use.

Turns out I just bought a rebuilt 350 in my area... http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?t=174678&highlight=holley+750+ripped

I was going to run the lunati 67003 but if anyone has more input on the GS 118 from poston I could be interested in that again. I want bottom end and decent power up to 6k. I checked out the heads and they could use a little more polishing but they look pretty good, so the 212 is out. I want advantage of these heads, but driveability.

The lunati cam has great bottom end! Even with my intake! However, it doesn't like my overdrive below 50MPH:laugh:

Is that stall locking up before 50 mph? Could that be the reason the car stumbles?

Yes, it is locking up, but that's just the nature of the beast.:beers2:

So, is it worth the time and effort to try to pull these rods at a boneyard? I saw a mid-70's Century yesterday - pretty sure it had a 350 in it.

Sure is, I would not run old style rods in any 350 even stock. They have been known to fail even under 400 hp, especially when revved over 6000 rpm.

Ha, I've exceeded each with my rods.:Brow:

Shhh, don't tell my car that, the stock long block has 80k street miles and after I bought it, over 500 1/4 mile passes on it without issue :) I think if someone doesn't rev the piss out of our under square Buick 350s, the stock rods will last in a mild application. I rarely spin mine over 5k, it's just not needed with my combo as a decent torque converter lets the engine fall back into the meat of the powerband after a shift. The 2 things that will kill the rotating assembly are RPM and excessive cylinder pressure, keep those in check and everything will last a while provided the oiling system is up to snuff.
