    :p

I checked the heads and deck with a straight edge, didn't seem to be warped. Just the weirdest part, it took a week to blow. One would think it would have blew when it got hot, not a week later after I restarted it after airing my tires at a gas station.

I’m not surprised it took a week. It was likely partially blown and fully blown when you noticed it.

Had some mccords , leaked coolant, had heads checked for cracks just to find crappy gasket. Fel pros now

Replaced it with felpro. Seems good so far. New radiator too.

Get it fired up yet was wondering about the oil pressure.

It's been running since last week. I just drove it around for an hour and a half. at idle in gear the light will flicker once hot, raises with rpm. 25psi about 2000rpm, psi psi when i rev it past 3k, 55ish psi cold. its more or less the same as it was, which is mildly disappointing after spending $200+, but my oil light would never come on before even after an hour on the highway. i gear hot idle psi is definitely worse. im gonna take the pump apart tomorrow and see what there is to see.

Like I said before I had TA set up my pump with the large gears and I think they made the holes larger too I have an adjustable pressure relief for the spring.

But I do have all the oil holes in the engine larger for the galleys.

Too bad you are having this trouble just recheck everything maybe try a different set of gears.

There used to be an article around somewhere on modifying the pump some I think it was from the V6 turbo site

I would also try to run a 180 stat in the engine then your oil won't get as hot.

You could also try 1-2 qts of 20-50 or 15-50 af the same type oil you are using and 3 qts of the regular and this may push up your idle pressure some.

All 20-50 or 15-50 is about too much for the oil pump and dist. shaft bushing.

15-40 oil might be ok to try.

I use 2 qts of 15-50 Mobile 1 and 4 qts of 10-30 Mobile 1 synthetic and I have 15lbs at idle in gear and 55 at 3000 rpm. 70lbs at 6 grand.

and I know that front cam bearing is leaking has 25 yrs on it now.

Put gear lube in it and it will show lots of pressure and make you happy.

Read and understand my post Oil pressure concern #412

Pressure doesn't mean anything except that the oil pump is working. It's the volume that lube things. Volume can't easily be measured. 20w50 is for people living in the 1950's.
