I have some numbers of a couple of motors I have. I found them on the front of the block on the drivers side. I hope this is the correct location.
1st number is: 9Y175562. 2nd is: 8H288341. If I got them from the wrong location on the motor please tell me where to find them. Thanks for the help. Phil

those are EIN or Engine Identification Numbers.

the first digit is the last digit of the year, the last 7 digits (letter and 6 numbers) match the last 7 digits of the original cars VIN and give you the city of production (H = Flint, MI and Y = Wilmington, DE) and sequential production number.

i'm not sure if you're looking at engines from 68 and 69 or 78 and 79 or some other combination. the two digit engine code located between the #1 and #3 spark plugs on the block deck would be much more useful here.
