I don't think the power steering pulley is being considered, just the WP, crank and alternator. I'm sure it could be included if enough wanted it. I've added a poll, please make sure and cast your vote.
I absolutely will be in for a set as long as we have enough interest to keep the prices at an affordable level. Ac is ok with me, and as I posted I can offer up my set for measurements. So we would want crank, water pump, and alt for sure David, maybe gauge interest in p/s pulley. is there any way to dress up the compressor for guys running ac?
>>I voted. I would definitely be interested in a power steering pulley as it should not be much more since it is a small pulley. I have one Jamie McClinton's new alternators which is already nicely dressed up so I may be good on that unless a set must be bought whole.
I'd say not a significant difference, no. The advantages would come with those who wanted/needed underdrive/overdrive options, since they'd be made to order sizes. I just noticed no one else here has stated specifically which pulleys they would want in a full set. Let's hear your opinions.
underdrive should feel a slight increse in power, and slightly quicker revs seems only 4 of us so far thats interested..so i'll take a complete set of whichever aslong as it happens so again...definatly interested in 4 piece system..i'll go with majority if you guys wants standard or underdrive crank/ or overdrive ps and alt
I'd think stock size would be best. Going underdrive on the crank will slow down the alternator and water pump, with possible negative results. Also, for underdrive you'd need a consensus on a size choice.
exactly what i mentioned before..the remeby would be to overdrive the alt pulley not sure if you need one for the waterpump pulley but the most hp you might pickup would be about 8hp assumming its atleast a 25% underdrive pulley...and again you'd need difference sized belts according to unorthodox racing a 20% underdrive pulley set will free up 10 to 15% power over stock diameter pulley set
Well that will all be up to the interested parties to decide of course. Once you guys have a consensus on 3 or 4 pulley sets (with or w/o PS pulley), arrangements can be made to get them shipped for spec'ing and quoting.
would the 350 pullies fit on a 340? if so I'd be in for a set: crank, wp, ps, and alt. (I did a search of the forum and couldn't find anything saying yes, or no as far as pullies are concerned. so forgive my noobness:spank: )
I think we will appeal to more people if we use stock sizes, leave under drives for special order. I feel we will have many more members who just want to dress up a rather plain area.
I can have these boxed and ready to ship if we want to get her rolling. Just would need a pm with an addy to send em to Thoughts on making an commitment stickey on parts for sale?
still may not answer your question as its a 300 but... Mister T Status: Offline Just truckin' around Join Date: May 2004 Location: Manitoba, Canada Posts: 4,140 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- You might also try pulleys from a Buick 350. I used some from a 73 350 on my 64 300 engine a couple years ago, but had to get the crank pulley modified slightly to fit properly. The modifications were drilling six 1/2 inch holes so the pulley would fit the crank. These holes were in addidtion to the 6 bolt holes and were centered between them. IIRC, the water pump pulley was the same for both engines.
From who? Chris, I don't think shipping should take place until there is agreement on 3 or 4 pulley sets. Don't think they should ship until all can go at the same time. I don't think anyone here had all 4 together? I also want to see one of you that are interested take the lead on this. I have no need for these pulleys, and really no free time for coordinating it. If Mike is stepping up to take the lead, that's great. I'll be happy to give him the contact info. BTW, I've had one of his 3800 SC pulleys on my 98 Riv for 4+ yrs now, and it still looks like new.
Chris, I think it will get more exposure leaving it here in The Bench, and I already stuck it earlier. If you guys decide to do 4 pulleys, I think all 4 should ship together in one box instead of having them arriving separately.
Chris, can you tell me the outside diameter of the crank pulley? He wants to make sure his equipment can do the sizes needed. Most of what he sells currently is probably smaller than our crank pulleys.
One more thing... he will not require anyone to buy complete sets. He would be able to make whichever pulleys that you send him originals, then produce as needed for what is ordered. IF he can make the sizes needed.
