I created a thread in another forum by I think this would be a better place for it. I recently purchased a 1966 Skylark that has the original 340 in it with a 2 barrel. I would like to do the normal performance upgrades to this to liven it up. I.E. Intake, carb, exhaust. I am looking to where I can purchase any aftermarket products or are they available? From the research I've done in the forums it looks like headers are a pain since they don't really fit. It also looks as if I want a 4barrel intake I have to locate an original since their is not an aftermarket available. Is this info correct? If so and I can find a 4barrel intake does it have to be a 4barrel 340ci carb also? How can I identify an original 340 4 barrel intake? What casting #'s should I look for?

Ive got the 340 in my 66 lesabre and have purchased the 340 headers from poston buick (only 340 headers available Im aware of). Ive also just ordered my camshaft from them. Other then that Im switching from a 2 barrel to a 4 barrel. It took my 4 hard months of searching everynight to find an intake manifold for a 4 barrel (it can be seen on my page at
    http://www.cardomain.com/id/buick66lesabre
). Ive bought an edelbrock 4 barrel 750 cfm for it. I also recently ordered 2 flowmaster 40 series mufflers. Ive only got one more thing I gotta buy and thats electric cutouts for my exhaust which I will be buying in 2 weeks. Besides that Im going to buy a K&N chrome air cleaner thats open and comes with their filter. Some braided hoses and getting my valve covers chromed as well. Im 17 and thats what Ive been saving for all winter to do, the parts are hard to find, especially the intake manifolds, but you can find them. The headers from postons I will have to modify and you might too. But the alternative to that is having them custom made. Check out my page to see my car and what Ive been doing. Hope this helps in some way.
