I own a 66 Lesabre with a 340ci v8 on the carb cover it says 350wildcat. Why dose it say 350 wildcat when the motor is a 340??? pat I was just told that there was never a 340 wildcat, but i am still going to call my motor a wildcat it just sounds cool.
Isn't this the torque of the engine? Just like there was a Wildcat 445 in the '63 Riviera (425 CI), or a Wildcat 445 in the '66 Wildcat (401 CI), etc, etc....
The older Buicks engines were named after there rated torque figures. An example would be my original 300 cid that I had in my 64 Skylark was called a Wildcat 355 because it had 355 lb/ft of torque. Your engines size is 340 cid I would assume that it was a 340 2 barrel to come up with a 350 lb/ft of torque number to be called a Wildcat 350. Hope I have not totally confused you with that one LMAO. I could be wrong as my knowledge of any small block beyond the 300 is hazy. o No:
You have a Wildcat 350 Motor. That is 340 cubic inch motor with a two barrel carb. I have a Wildcat 375 motor in my Skylark. It is a 340 cubic inch with a 4 barrel carb. The wildcat part is the torque the motor puts out. When someone asks what size motor you have Lesabre you tell them it is a 340 cubic inch or you can say it is a Wildcat 350 motor. Because it is both. Bob Jerseysky66 1966 2 Door Skylark Wildcat 375 (340-4)
