I started my roadster project 7 years ago when I brought home the '61 Buick 401 home from the bone yard. The car was built over the following years as money, time and parts became available. I finished the car 3 weeks ago and entered it in our 39th annual spring car show. Along with 5 other awards the car got "Best Of Show-Engine." With all I learned here on this board, I just had to share
That's nice!!:bglasses: It should come with its own slogan......"With this Duece, the Nailhead hammers YOU". Well done.:3gears:
The Roadster is absolutely gorgeous. Congratulations on a stunning combination, and the perseverance and patience to see it through to completion after 7 years. Inspirational. Yes please, more pictures and some more detail on the engine build.
Awesome! I have long maintained that there are three proper engines for a true hot rod - A Ford flathead with finned aluminum heads, a Chrysler Hemi, or a Nailhead. Your Deuce is proof that I am correct.
I agree with John, That is awesome looking. Building something like that is on my list off things to do:grin:
VERY VERY Nicely done car. I really like the way the engine sits in it. I hope you get to enjoy it often. after 7 years of building this work of art I hope you drive it and have some fun with it. :TU: to many cars like this one become trailer queens. That's fine if that is your thing but I like to see people drive there cars otherwise our children will not have a love for the cars like we do. My guess is you are going to win a lot more awards with this sweet car.
Guys, I am simply HUMBLED and GRATEFUL for all the kind words regarding my Nailhead powered 32 roadster. I will post some better outdoor photos once my driveway is clear of snow and ice!! Because this is the Nailhead forum, I will post a few pics of the engine build. Please note when I brought the engine home from a salvage yard in March of 07, I had spent the whole day driving in blizzard conditions, upon getting back home I was intent on finding out if my newly purchased engine was a good core, and I remembered that my cherry picker was out on lend. So now you know why you see me doing a tear down inside my Astro cargo van. For those who commented, the generator is a '61 AC/DELCO generator, HOWEVER a really talented guy (not me) built a one wire, internal regulator alternator inside it.
