Just got back from a 6,750 mile trip in my '03 Century.( really my wifes ride but I still get to pay for it) I have been wanting to take this trip by car for a long time and deceided to do it now before I get to old to enjoy it. We had a great time and hit all the high spots from Ohio to California and back. Took old route 66 alot in New Mexico and Arizona, even stayed all night in a Wig-Wam in Holbrook, Arizona. My favorites were the Grand Cayon, Vegas, California beaches and the Bonneville Salt Flats. They let us go clear out on the salt to the pits and walk around and look at the cars and talk to everyone. NEET!!! We kept track of the milage very close, ended up an average of 32.7. Couldn't believe it but its true. Thats only about 4 times better than my GS gets! I am the first guy to complain about new cars and how I can't work on them but I must admit I was very pleased with the Century on this trip. The last time I was west was in 1961 in the family 58 Buick estate wagon. I would never take off that far in anything but a Buick. Forgive my rambling on, just had to brag on this car a little. gs4u2c Is that a 442?

Rented one this past spring for the GS Nats. Had it for two weeks, put 2500 miles on it and averaged 31mpg...and that was with stopping at every antique store between Mobile and Indianapolis. :Dou:

One of my coworkers get 30+ in his new Buick - I didn't do that well with a 4-cylinder shoebox Toyota. Now, if we could get the classics to do that well.

I did see a few old Buicks, Mostly running the Interstate at about 85 mph. I did get a couple pictures at the Wig-Wom Motel in Holbrook AZ. They have old cars parked close to the tee-pees for atmosphere I guess. One is a 56 Special, two tone green 2door, the other is a white 55 Special 4door. Other cars parked around were a 54 Pontiac,60 Pontiac, 59 Impala,57 Ford and a VW for cripes sake! Also got a picture of me driving the Century through a hollowed out giant redwood.I did stop at a couple junk yards in New Mexico and Arizona to see about a good rear bumper for my 66 Skylark GS with no luck, anybody got a real good one they would part with? ( don't have to be show chrome, just straight no dents and pretty shiny)I will try to post some pictures if I can get it thru my dumb hillbilly head how to do it. Later, Mike

In July 2001 we took a 6000 mile vacation out to Vancouver,BC and back home to Missouri with our 2000 Regal LS.With 3 people, tons of luggage,AC on,and mostly over 70 mph we averaged nearly 29 mpg for the entire trip.

On one 460 mile stretch we drove from Evanston,WY to Denver,CO on 14.3 gals of gas for 32 mpg.I was in the back seat and was letting my 17 yr old son do the driving. Its never did that good since then.

Those Centurys are great cars and there are tons of them around here.

Yeah, Mike, I'm like you, I belly-ache about new cars (have you SEEN a new Chassis Manual???) and how you can't work on them, but my wife's '01 LeSabre routinely gets 31+ mpg at 70-75 mph, even in the heat of summer with the a/c going full tilt. And it even has pretty decent power - It's disgusting...

But then, I wouldn't tow a lawnmower behind it, let alone a 4,000# wooden boat. So the 2NABOT's future is secure!!! :TU:
