Ok guys this is in the planning stages. My only question I have right now is about the mount mounts and frame mounts.

I have read on this site that the 350 will bolt up to the v6 frame mounts using the v6 motor mounts. I need someone to confirm this.

Then my second question is do the frame mounts bolt onto the car or are they welded on? I can't remember and it will be a week untill I can get a chance to look at one of my buicks.

    Thanks
    Scott

Heey buddy, I'm doing the same thing !! tell me what U gotta do, I know the Olds., motor mount brackets are lower than the Buick V8 brackets, I have a 350 Buick out of a 77 Century, my regal was set up for the Olds 307, Buick 231 V6 and 305 Chevorlet, this makes it possiable for a 350 Chev. to fit also; the chassy is set up for it. I'm still brain storming on how to convert it over, I need help.

I can't answer your question concerning a 350 (Buick) bolting up to V6 mounts (although I have read on this site that they do) but I can answer your question concerning whether or not the mounts are bolted or welded to the frame. They are bolted to the frame.

You simply use the v6 mounts and frame pads and toss the olds frame pads adn mounts.

Does this bolted frame pads and and mounts deal work all the way up to 1987? I have a 87 LeSabre wagon with a 307 Olds which sure could use a Buick 350. A good friend suggested a Olds 403 which he had very good luck with, whatchya think??

the 403 should swap if you have an olds 307 now,
    v6 mounts/frame pads will bolt in a buick 350
you will notice the right side valve cover really tight on the ac box
you can try to get a 76-up 350 valvecover for that side
they dont always hit the ac box but they can
i have had 2 that didnt and a third that did but the third i had grand national poly mounts becuase i was expecting 400 plus hp and the poly mounts are slightly taller and very stiff

What is the difference in the valve cover? Height?

there is a taper toward the back side that was there for clearance on later motors

Same bolt pattern and gasket so they are a direct swap onto an older engine?

That is what anoyes me about this website. Their are so many people on here asking questions about chevy small blocks then people have to put that disclaimer in, and when i try doing searchs half of the info that I turn up is people asking questions about chevys. Too bad buick didn't make the 350 348 or something so that way their wouldn't be this confusion 30 years later.

Thanks for the info I am going to save your screen name for when I have any questions in the future.
Now I have to get my mustang sold get the regal into the garage get the old motor out and start collecting parts/cleaning.

    1.
The frame mounts are bolted on.

    2. The 3.8 v6 mounts will work on a buick 350. But you have to use the v6 frame mounts with the v6 motor mounts as a pair.

    3. I don't know how far Carrolton IL is from me, but I have a running buick 350/350 combo from a 72 skylark for $250 if you like. Carb to pan, 80,000 miles. No PS pump.

    4. The power steering high pressure lines and fittings will be different from the Olds

    5. It will be easier to just put a bigger Olds motor in. Olds blocks are all the same size from 260ci-403ci, and the olds 455 is only an inch wider than those. All of those intakes will swap from block to block 260-403. All of your brackets should too. BUT Olds ToRoNaDo motors had different bracket setups, than all of the regular olds motors. Your wagon should be a vin Y or 9 I believe.
If it is a vin 9, save me the timing tab off of it, mine is broken. :)

I think you got two post mixed up here or something. I don't own a wagon my engine is a vin y and the timming tab is broken off also.

I might be interested in your 350/350 combo where are you located? I am near Purdue in West Lafayette IN.

    I am in Woodridge IL
    60517 zip.
Its a 2bbl, with a pts distributor, and comes with the 350 tranny already attached. Just bring a hoist and a truck and it will be yours in 5 minutes. It's sitting on some speaker boxes right now.

    Note:
There is a freebie 350 from a 79' on this site with a blown HG in Hammond, IN if that would be easier on you. I'm not sure what kind of project you are looking for, but Hammond is probably 40 miles closer to you.

I don't have any cash laying around right now though. I'll have to check back with you in a month or so.

Yeah, I doubt another 3.8 Cutlass is going to fall into my lap by then. I was supposed to get a nice rust free 1980 for 200 bucks, but the kid decided to keep it now I guess. :Dou:
