hello to all, my question is are the chain kits the same for a 300 and a 350? can find plenty of listings for the 350 but i don't want ot give a parts guy a heart attack when i mention a 300, a 350 is easier. thanks, paul c.
I show a 225-300-340-350 = GM #135707 , Group 0.724 However I see another number for the 350 beginning with in 1970. Pehaps a number or part revision.
I am 99% sure they are the same but will let someone confirm this that may know 100%.They may be different after 70 though.
I plan on buying one this week for my 300. TA lists the same part# for the 215-300-340 & 350 (64-77) and the same# for the 198-225-231 V6 odd fire engines. The 78-88 231-252 even fire engines have a different part#. Just the same I was going to ask for a 350 timing chain to make things easier too. I'll wait till someone confirms this. Ray
I ended up going to 3 places. Each time the parts guy said a 300 what? Two places could get one. Remember I live in Canada. One place wanted $50 for a stock replacement with nylon teeth and $165 for a double roller which he could not confirm if it was a true roller. I went elsewhere. At the local UAP store (like the US NAPA dealer) for $53 I got a steel cam geared stock NAPA replacement set. PN. 203003. I figured I would get the steel instead of the nylon toothed gear. I've replaced many nylon toothed cam gears with teeth missing and don't want the debris in the engine. I did a search at the NAPA site and they are $28.99 for the same set. They also sell double rollers and the part#s for timing sets are the same for a 77 350 and a 67 300. Ray
