I have a 1964 LeSabre with the 250 HP 300 cu in engine. I am rebuilding the engine and I am wondering what is the paint color and what parts are painted and what are not painted. When I bought the car in 1969 from the original owner it had 27,000 miles on it and I don't think the engine had ever been painted. The color is a medium blue and in the process of trying to obtain the correct color paint I have been told it should be green. I hope some expert out there can tell me what is correct. You can post a reply or email me at wally@plaidpants.net Thanks. Wally
my 64 300 was like an aqua green like the nailhead engines everything was painted but the heads and intake as it was bare aluminum my buddies 67 300 was same color but intake was painted i believe gregg gessler sells the correct paint
I have a 67 300 and everything on the engine is green from the oil pan to the intake. You should be able to get the paint from CARS, Inc. at oldbuickparts.com or Year One.
Most 64' cars that came with 300's I have seen have been a silver color. I believe they went to the green color in 65. Brian Stone would know for sure. He has 64, 65, and 66 cars. Send him a PM, his screen name is Brian.
my 64 just the heads and intake was silver valvecover and rest of engines was that aqua-ish green and air cleaner was black
When I went looking for the green paint for my 67 300, I was told I could use the Detroit Diesel green. Very close to the Buick green and you can get it from you local parts store.
