I'm feeling the need for more speed in my 215 powered '67 MGB. I have a 300 from a '64 LaSabre that is in great shape and is close to standard in all respects. BUT (there's always a big but) it was an auto transmission car and I want to go with a 5 speed. So what bell housings will work? What to do for a flywheel? Starter? Any insight will be greatly appreciated. I've looked at lots of archived information but still am not sure what SBB driveline parts will fit the '64 engine.

Flywheels will interchange between the 300-340-350 SBB engines.

    The same with the starter.

The bellhousing will interchange with any Buick V8.

Olds and Pontiacs have the starter pocket on the wrong side, but there are universal BOP bellhousings that have pockets on both sides.

Jim Stuart also has a 300 MGB:

As does Don Bode, and Don's car uses the stock hood:

We used the universal bellhousing in the 455 Buick powered MG-Roadmaster but had to saw off one of the bulges. That can be heliarc closed if you like, we didn't bother. The right bellhousing should be pretty easy to find and should be priced around $50-75 so you should be able to sell your old bellhousing and have some cash left. Perhaps enough, between that and the flywheel to get an aluminum SBB flywheel for your 300. You can use your old HTOB. Chris, right? I can see why you would want to stick with the Buick family, your hand built headers are most impressive.

That flywheel sports a 7-1/4" triple disc clutch for a truly low inertia package. You might want to jump right on that.
