I have come across a 300 aluminum intake. The # is 1349520 310, not sure if this is for the 310 wildcat only or will it fit my 67 300 and what problems if any will there be with changing it over. I have a Edelbrock 1406 Carb for my cast iron 4bbl intake that I will be installing soon, will this work for the aluminum intake. Do I need aluminum heads as well for this. Any help / tips / info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
there are a couple that mixed 64 with 65+ and vise versa, just need to do a little bit of work..i guess it was enlarging the passage. not sre
In short, yes the intake can be modified to work for you. No it is not a bolt on... Can you get the alum 300 heads that came with the alum intake? These are 64 only parts, fairly rare. The other option for you is a 65 iron 300 intake which is not easy to find. Also to use the edelbrock (1406) carb on a '64 300 aluminum intake you will need a 1/2" to 1" spacer as the secondaries won't open without it. The throttle linkage may hit the intake without it too. Can't exactly remember.
The correct casting number for the 300 4bbl is 1359122. Can you post a picture of the intake & casting number?? The number you've provided is not a 64 4bbl intake number. I can't tell what you have....uzzled:
Ok thanks to everyone for the imput on this, I think I will just stick to my heavy cast iron 4bbl intake and leave it at that. In regards to the secondaries hitting the intake and needing a spacer, will I need this as well for the 65 cast iron intake. I haven't mounted the carb yet, it's still sitting in the box waiting for me to get my ass in gear!!
I'm not 100% sure but I would assume that yes it is needed. On my set up the secondary "holes" in the manifold under the carb were too small to mount the carb (1406) directly to the intake. Primaries cleared fine. $15 spacer from summit took care of it.
If that aluminum manifold is for a Wildcat 310 it must be a 2bll manifold as the 4 bll 300 was called a 355 (310 & 355 were torque ratings).
Of course! What I ment to say was that the manifold must be for a Wildcat 355 as they were the 4 bll version of the 300 ci sbb.
Here is a pic of the casting # for the intake. The guy may be wrong with it's application. I don't have the sources to check the #s out.
This is actually a 215 Buick intake, I looked up the number. Do you have a 2bb or 4bb on your 300 now? I can find a 4bb for you if you need one.
I have manifold witha 1359122s casting number on it. All I did was use the 64 manifold gaskets and a one inch spacer and it works fine.
I already do have the 4bbl iron intake, I was just looking around for other intakes that may work. Is the 215 intake worth getting?? does it have that "rare" factor like the 300 4 bbl. I don't know much about the 215 engine so I don't know if I should grab this intake or not? Thanks for looking up that # Sean!!
