Good morning Buick guy's/ gal's. I finally after years of searhing, found a 4v manifold for my "65 Skylark. My question is I know alot of guy's who say if your not using a Carter, use a 500/600 cfm Edelbrock. I would like to put a 625 cfm Road Demon on it. What are your thoughts. I have a 500 cfm 2v Road Demon on it now and it makes gobs of power and runs smooth. Thank you for help. Rick

I remember hearing of the 625 cfm carb being too much for a stock 300. With upgrades the motor may be able to run the bigger carb, since buicks seem to love big carbs.

Sean, Thanks. This is what I have done to the 300 so far: The motor is a 57K original untouched engine W/ MSD 6A ignition, wires, and billit distributer. Demon 500 cfm 2v carb, Poston long tube headers w/ 2.5 " pipe and Flowmaster Delta 40's, electric fans and high volume oil pump. The car runs really nice and I want to keep the original engine and make it as powerfull as posible. Thanks, Rick

Is a high-volume oil pump a good idea on a 300? I hear the BBB guys talking it down, or is that a sb vs bb difference.

It,s the stock pump with a preasure kit from Poston. I had to experiment with the various size springs to get it right.

Nice start, the next step is head porting.

Hi Sean, It's funny because when I install the 4v manifold and carb The heads are going for porting and polishing. Than It's a Poston 110a cam and all new rods, rockers, springs etc. I'm guestimating I should have horsepower in the low to mid 300's when I'm all done thats why I thought I would go with the Demon 625 carb. Thanks for your help, Rick

    300 ci carb suggestions

I run a 600 cfm Holley on one of my 300s and an Edelbrock 500cfm on the other. Both run fine but I ran smaller jets on the Holley with great success.
