I put this in the bench last night, then when looking at a total lack of responses there, I decided to put it somewhere people might actually give it a look. I purchased a 4bbl intake(65 cast iron piece) w/carb and linkage from a member here on the board a while back. Turns out I will probably not be using the intake as I plan on swapping the motor, so I was looking to verify what it was one more time before trying to sell it. The casting number on the intake doesnt match with what Buicks.net reference says it should be. Nor does it match anything else they have listed there. The number is pretty hard to read, as I haven't gotten it totally cleaned up, but it looks to be B 1366685 F or B 1366885 F. There is also what looks to be a D -29 or O -29 on the other side of the mounting for the carb. Just looking for confirmation that I have an actual 65 300 4bbl intake before I go putting it up for sale, as I dont want to mislead anyone or sell it as something that it isn't. Anyone got any info on this? Thanks, Fred
People log in to the board, hit the NEW POSTS button and check all the new posts, so I don't really think it matters in which section you put your post (besides from keeping the right stuff in the right place) Anyway: 300 CI 4 barrel intake casting numbers are: 1964: 13 59 122 1965: 13 67 299 1966: 13 79 948 No nailhead, small block or big block Buick intake number comes close to the numbers you posted above.
Make sure you're quoting CASTING numbers, not part numbers. They are NOT the same, and casting numbers do not show up in the parts manuals. There is a list on the Buick.net site that lists the part number as casting numbers. Might work for some, but not for this application. Fred, I think... this is from memory that the number you quoted is correct for the '65 cast iron 4bbl 300 intake. I'll check mine tonight and verify that. JMC
According to the information i have from searching for an intake: The 65 4 BBL cast iron intake #'s are: P/N 1367299 Casting # 1366695. By the way...i am still looking for a 4bbl and carb (with the S/P brackets). I sent you a PM.
Hi Fred thought i would jump in and at least put a name to i bought it from a member :Comp: he bought the intake from me i took it from a 65 300 motor that was still in the car yet cast iron motor i came accross this before the numbers match in the hollander book for the numbers given but interchange books that you can buy over the ebay seem to lack information and are mis leading i bought a few of them as well and i might as well drank the money away over buy those books but like i said its right off a 65 Greg
Greg Thanks buddy. I didn't doubt ya, thats why I never asked for the casting number when I bought it from you. I was just double checking the casting number to be sure, because I am anal about that kind of thing. Having had numerous confirmations I will be comfortable selling it. Will try to get the pictures up before I leave work this afternoon.
How much are you asking? Fred, I am interested in the intake/carb/any brackets that belong with it. Let me know how much you want...you may not have to ebay it. :beer
A few pictures of the manifold Don't have any pics of the carb, but here are a few of the intake that I snapped after cleaning the top layer of crud off last night.
