hey i'm just wondering if you can put a cast iron 4b intake onto an alumin 300 head? as all the aluminum ones i seen are outragous in price and the cast is reasonable..

    i have a 64 310 wildcat engine 2bbl

    thanks

Well, the cast iron intake has larger (taller) ports. So the intake charge will be hitting a nice lip as it tries to enter the head....that'll hurt performance.
The iron intake will physically bolt onto the alum heads, but I don't know if there is enough material around the head's ports for the intake to seal to it.
There are also differences in water and exhaust-heat passages, but they might work.

I actually went the other way and installed an alum intake onto my '66 iron heads....I couldn't find an iron 4bbl one, but did find an alum one for $35 at Carlise. It was a long time ago, but I think I had to block off an exhaust passage in the head to do it. It works well for me.:bglasses:

yea i knew someone did the opposite, had to port it out to match huh? that;s what brought my question up.

yea i can always just buy it and resell it..or i can just find a set of iron heads, and i know where to get some iron heads :D
