Well, I finally got lucky at Bobs U-Pull It!

Found a 65 Skylark with a 300/4 barrel manifold. This was a four door and it even had a tilt column (column shift).

Anyway this thing has been swimming so the carb was totally toast.

Here's my question, my dead stock 300/2 barrel has 3 vacumn pickup points on the manifold. One for the A/C controls, one goes off somewhere towards the transmission, and the other is for the power brakes.

The 4 barrel manifold only has 2 pick up points, do I tee off one to make the three lines, or do I have my machine shop tap in for the missing hole?

Also, I have a 340 four barrel carb from another project, will it work for this application? The flanges line up, so it will fit.

    Thanks in advance.

I would Tee off one for the A/C and trans and use the other for the brakes. However, your carb may have a vacuum port that you can use also.:TU:

That's what I was looking into, all the newer cars run multiple lines off on vac
    source.

    Thanks

Better re-check that. The 300 and 340 have different deck heights, nearly 5/8" IIRC. The intakes should not be interchangeable.

I think he was saying he planned to use the carb from the 340, not the intake.

I think Carson is right on here- the 340 carb will fit and will probably have a port on the back of it for vacuum, maybe PCV as well. Nice find!
