View attachment 639047 Can anyone help me decipher what this is. Stamped on the drivers side front of the block. Car is a 67. Know it’s either a 300 or 340 trying to figure out which it is. Car is a 67 skylark 3 speed on the column Intake is 4bbl but valve covers say 300 2 bbl. 1st picture is the block numbers second is the intake. Any help would be appreciated

Cast iron 4bbl intake would definitely be a 340. Heads and valve covers are the same between 300 and 340.

A thread on another forum also references the same intake casting # as yours and consensus there was it's a 340.

340 intake is wider than a 300 due to taller deck height.

    That's a '67 340 4bbl intake.

    # is B1379758E

Can you post pics of the valve covers?

Can anyone tell me if there is a casting number on the block? I know where they are for a 350 and 455

    Yes.
1374557 should be on the rear saddle of the block, behind the intake.

Finally found the number. Just covered in crust. Seems to be a 340 block. Thanks for the insight

I think you have your answer, but I’ll add that four barrel 300s are uncommon and had higher compression and aluminum heads and intake. Four barrel 340s were pretty common. (My first old Buick was a ‘64 Skylark convertible with a 300 two barrel; that engine failed due to a clogged oil pickup. I replaced it with a two barrel 340 and later, with Nick Sloop’s help, swapped on a Carter AFB and intake from a LeSabre).

Just trying to get it running. Had been setting for awhile. Had an intake valve stuck closed pulled the head cleaned up the valve. Replaced a lifter and pushrod. Crank gear was broken on t chain so did the t chain and a cover off a 350 since just about all the bolts broke on the water pump. Hopefully try to fire this week

    Hi,

64 had aluminum heads and intake both 2 and 4 barrel carbs.

    65-67 300 & 340 cast iron heads and intake

65 was a one year cast iron 4 barrel intake.

    Regards,
    Jim
