Hello all, I am wondering how much I should be able to deck my heads on my stock 300 2bbl(iron heads) if I run 93 octane. I can't seem to find all the specs to find what my dynamic compression ratio would be with the stock cam. I burnt 2 valves(vacuum leak that went on a little too long) a little bit, and was thinking if/when I pull them sending the heads to have a little meat taken off to help performance some. I don't plan on hopping this engine up, but I need to have a reliable engine. If I pull the heads to grind the valves why not try to gain a little performance:Do No:? Thanks guys.

I would have the minimum milled off the heads to clean 'em up, that's all.
Your not going to gain much from milling a bunch off, unless you want to deal with intake bolt alignment, pushrods being too long now and lifter pre-load being a bit too much (requiring shorter pushrods)
I'd go with a good 3 angle valve job, make sure all stem heights are equal, AND have the exhaust guides machined for seals, if Buick didn't use seals on the exhaust guides on the 300:cool:

Too bad you're not closer. I have a 300 Short Block with the Flat Top Hi Comp Pistons. Poston 110a Cam.

Ponch, I don't need the parts, but I would like to know the location of a good machine shop in the Saginaw/Flint region. Know of any?

    Thanks,
