I have a crank that has been ground to 30 on the rods, and 20 on the mains. Isn't that too much?

It is in my possesion because there was a mistake at the machine shop, when they swapped my good one for this one.

I will have to find one if that won't work, or if it may work, but.............

As long as the clearances are within specs, there is no problem with undersized journals. If your oil light is not coming on at hot idle, I suppose you could assume they are OK.

The downfall to having it ground so small is that if you ever have it done over again, I think 30 is the max. undersize and you would need a new crank. Personally, I would not worry about it. :bglasses:

My crank is at 0.030/0.030, I think. The only problem was bearing availablility, but if you ave bearings then I wouldn't worry about it.

Remember that the stroker 496" motors have offset ground cranks, and the new block will probably use smaller journal diameters in the center (I think). I wouldn't worry about a few thou, when they are grinding 1/4" off the journals.
