looking for 3" mandrel pipes to bolt to my ta headers on my 350 72 lark all i can find is factory headpipe setups or complete out the back kits all i want is from the headers back to flowmaster mufflers and then dumped before the axle with or without hpipe doesn't matter does any one sell this kit or do I need to just get individual pieces. dont want to waste an expensive full kit or settle for crushbent stuff I can do myself at a mufflershop I used to work at. right now I dont even have flanges bolted to the headers so pipes with them all ready on would be a bonus
Wow, 3 inch is pretty aggressive for a small block, you might want to search most suggest only 2 1/2 for 350
i'm not looking for every single little horsepower i know I might get a few more w/ 2 1/2 but I love the 3" sound way different than 2 1/2
well..the lmost you'll do is change the sound, which is what you want, and prehaps loose a tad bit of back pressure...resulting in loss of lowend....but you might not even notice it
I ran into the same thing when I did my 72, except I wanted 2.5". I wound up buying a (relatively) inexpensive Summit mandrel bent 2.5" dual system for headers. They are out-the back systems, but I chopped and welded what I needed for dumps before the rear tires. The extra pieces have come in handy time to time. Oh and I use flowmasters too.
i'm think i will dump them straight down like I had before leaves 2 killer trails in my gravel driveway all the way down to the dirt! but I don't know I am getting a new paint job started here in a few weeks might always dust out the new paint
I am putting my mandrel bent 3 inch exhaust with race bullets on my 73 GS. I don't believe it will help me lose low end as I have 3.42 gears and a 4 speed. I will also be replacing my M21 back from the M20. There I definitely lost alot of ground. It's just not the right gearing for my big car. The 3 inch sounds so bad as well. I am hoping to get the new motor(118 cammed) 350 figured out. I have some loose valvtrain issues and may need to step up to a new set of pushrods..
If I remember correctly, Mark Burton had -- and correct me if I'm wrong, Mark -- 3" on his cammed (and headered?) 350 before the turbos.
