No I haven't bought the headers yet, so I guess I should go with 1" 7/8 primaries. I guess I'll try the X-Pipe instead if everyone finds that its a better peice than the H-Pipe.

I've done the H pipe. It works. worked well on my truck, and provided a nice place to put the O2 sensor. This way it reads both banks as it did in the stock Y pipe.

However I want an X pipe for the GS. I bought the 1 7/8 headers from TA(jet hotted) and plan to go to X w/ 3" at least.as far as the muffs I'm not sure yet. What I really want is a nice fitting kit that I can weld up my self. the most I want to do is cut tailpipes and swell an end or two. I lost my muffler shop connections so I'm on my own again.

My 72GS has 3" with X pipes behind headers. Wouldn't have it any other way.

I reckon I don't drive the car much. These pipes will last a decade. No upgrade in the future. It's a low compression 455 now, but that may change once I have time to race more regularly.

cray1801 Too much is just right.

    I second that.

My system consist of M/T Scavenger headers, the 3" Dr. Gas x-pipe mandral bent system, Dynomax large case mufflers and 3" mandrel bent tail pipes from TA. Fantastic sound)! If I had to do it again the only thing I would change would be to use 2 1/2" mandral bent tail pipes from TA.

It takes quite some time (and maybe some modifications) to tuck those tailpipes in just right with no interfearance issues (upper control arms, corner of the gas tank, etc.). Besides you will loose no performance with this change. It's hard to be a sleeper when she idles.
