I decided to go with a quick ratio manual steering box, so will not be needing this one. It is a Saginaw “3 hole” box, casting number 5679142. It has the large hole pitman arm, part number 5693761 on it. Cleaned and primed/painted cast iron gray.

    $100 plus shipping from Texas.

Curious how you like the quick ratio once you get it. I'm thinking I'm going to do the same. I already have a manual box although have no idea if correct for a '70. Do you know if this is &/or how to identify the correct box? If mine isn't, I might still be interested in this one.

I run manual boxes in all of my cars, but haven’t tried a quicker ratio. Curious to know if the effort is less or more to steer it.

Dano - I don’t know if this is the correct casting number four your car. I looked in the assembly manual for 1970 and 1971, and they both show a 3-hole box, but different part numbers?

That's kinda what I'm curious about. I suspect more.
Thanks James! Strange that it'd be different and that part # I suspectdoesn't correspond to what's cast into the box but maybe. I'll have to see what I have stashed away for the one car and what's installed on my '70 Stage 1 4-sp but that car had at one time been converted to PS so probably not the original box on it.

A fellow Mopar/Olds guy has the whole explanation of what castings were used for what. I remember discussing this with him before. I also have a few NOS manual boxes for that day when I restore my 455 4-speed car.
