How much modification would it take to use the 3.8 ltrs rods?

my mistake, buick v6 has bigger rod bearing then buick v8s

so you;ll need a rod with a 2in rod bearing or smaller(1.889 honda size) to work
    bbuick v8 is too big

[/COLOR]i would imagine just modify the pistons bushing pin height and turning down your 350 bearings to 2.249

no different then doing rods with 1.889 bearings...just ned to somehow come across 2 extra rods

this company sells long rods that are 6.350 which im pretty sure is the stock size of 350 rods

    they're not really honda rods

just nascar rods using honda rod journals

    they're not really honda rods

just nascar rods using honda rod journals
these are the rods bob makkley and a few others have useing are in process of using to make a 370 sbb
369(370) would take .100 offset grind for stroke and about .060 piston
the rods typicaly have the chevy 350 pin height...not sure what width bigend will clear as noone seems to get back to me on that lil part of the build..

carririllo , yates, lentz and few other makes the nascar rods in various lenghts and widths with differ pin heights and crank journal sizes

350's rods are 6.380. our current rods are ford nascar rods with the honda 1.888 bearings. turn 7500 rpm with stock and ford nascar rods. not hard to do. you just have to build them right. if you do grind the crank small, make sure you balanced everything because it throws everything off.
if you do go to 6.350, you just deck the block to make up for the difference unless you are using a dome piston. then you won't have to. or leave the deck alone and s/charge or turbo it.

Or spend the extra five hundred and get custom pistons and you can do whatever you want. I used 7" Scat rods. They are very light, but so are the pistons. 10.6 compression, small dish, no valve reliefs.

I am guessing you are asking about rods for a Buick 350. Let us know if you are asking about another engine.

Connecting Rods: For stock runner the 68-72 are fine but the 73-81 rods last although BEWARE of oddball engines with non correct rods for the date....ARP bolts are available for the late model rods. This combo is safe untill about 500 HP or really high RPM, above that step up to the Custom. OR spend BIG time and cash on the stockers.
If you go that route read this:
"The rods should be cap screw style. They should be polished along the side-beams to a mirrior finish, including, if not especially where the rod broaches at the point where it meets the crank.

Have them sonic tested and magnafluxed and checked for size and straightness before you start. Grind all casting flash and all rough edges smooth. DO NOT remove any material from the bearing radius, or you could open up too much end play. Grind the ballancing pads down as much as possible [leave a little], and THEN have them rebuilt. Big end resized, small end bronze bushed for floating pins [only if your TRW slugs accept floating pins].

After you get them back, your still not done.
Now it's time to ballance them. You can do this at home. GET THEM PERFECT, and matched to the pistons!!!
    You can also have them:
    Ion nitrited
    Hard chromed
    Directionally magnatized
    Chryogenically relaxed
..... The list goes on, just pick what looks best to you, and what your budget allows, and have it done"

Makes me want to go and get the custom rods and just be done with it.....SO I DID!

    3. Eagle SBC rods

Engine builder Brian Leibee used an off the shelf Eagle rod at 6.30 long and had Ross make custom pistons for the application, after slight machining this combo has been track proven reliable and the cheepest option so far for forged piston and rods combo:The rod used for the Buick 350 is the CRS6300SLW

Just spoke to Troys Engine builder Brian Leibee and he said that it would be no problem to do another setup liek this for someone. The rods are VERY slightly narrowed, bearing tang moved and stock buick 350 bearings are used, the piston is custom made anyways so no problem to go with the SBC pin diameter.

    Info on the pistons again:
The piston builder Ross Racing Pistons. Job card # off the order sheet was 115793. Should help speed the process of ordering. Waited about 5 weeks. Pistons are a true flat top with 4 cc valve reliefs. Engine builder Brian Leibee with Leibee Precision Machine,Phone# 307-362-5049. Tell him Troy sent ya hill take care of ya.

this is basically the same as my rods. but i went .090 overbore using std 283 pistons. found both on ebay for $500.
i leave my engine balancing to the pro's because of my engine builds. i could never do what they did to balance my engine.

these are all suggestions. there is no such thing as overkill in building a long life engine. but build it to where you might be at the end and to what fits your wallet. i build r&d to prove that it can be done and just for the fun of it.

When you say std 283 pistons what are you talking about?
    please forgive my ignorance.

He is talking about standard bore chevy 283 pistons which require a 90 thou overbore to a Buick 350 to fit.

old post but if someone ever happens tro find it in search

standard bore chevy 283 pistons only need a .075 bore on buick 350 block
