So its late and I am still all hopped up on my workout supplements from the gym earlier, not to mention the rockstar I slammed too.Anyways I am starting to wonder if 3.73's where the right setup for my skylark.I built her up so I could smash 90% of the cars on the street and hold its own at the track when I went. But sitting here early in the morning and looking at some videos and pictures of my car In Sf and Santa Cruz and even LA,and it kinda makes me miss hauling ass on the freeway. The only time I have gone on a long trip since I installed the 3.73's was to sacramento raceway and it was only about 45 miles, and that was before I had my tach in it and that was stolen when the windows got cleaned out :af: .So with BFG radials 235/60R15 all around can anyone give me an idea at my rpm's at 60mph and how horrible would it be to drive on the highway over 100 miles, not that ima do it!Just curious well to all you goodnight/morning I am off to sleep I suppose.Take it easy Russ

With 235/60/15s and 3.73:1 final drive your RPM at 60MPH will be 2880. That is assuming no slippage in the torque converter. If you have a torque converter that stalls in excess of 3200 rpm or so, your RPMs will likely be higher. That could get quite uncomfortable for long trips at highway speeds. I have 3.73s in my car with 275/60/15s and it really sings at 65 MPH (about 3000 RPM). I tolerate it though, because I drive so few highway miles.

As far as street confrontations are concerned, you probably wouldn't notice a lot of difference between your 3.73s and a somewhat higher ratio like 3.42 or 3.55. Your car might ET a tenth or two better with the 3.73s, but it is a toss up on the street.

calis72s..so when are you heading down here to the track.. i got together with doug from turlock,ca...they had been tuning my car with some success, still cant get it to launch hard, anyways i talked to him about local members and he invited us to the 8 mile road classic car gather up.. :beer so hows your car coming along, you never got back to be about the window or grilles.. anyways c ya later..about your rpms i have 3.08 gears, 2400 stall 275 60 15r wheels 3 speed, my cruising speed was about 2500 rpms at 60 mphs, when it was not tuned around 2800. ill tell you this, when the car was tuned with those gears and tires i saw speeds of over 100+ miles perhour when we were tuning it with doug and donny.. i clearly saw 110 or so but dont want to assure it.:eek2:

Ha yea man sorry bout not responding.I pretty much went into a depression after all the windows got bashed out the steering column went to **** and my new disc brakes started locking up and getting extremley hot. When is the 8 mile car show?My car is no way a show car at all lol the only thing that is nice about it is the interior is perfect lol and maybe the stereo. But before all that happened I rebuilt a quadra jet and put in the lunati 67003 cam and I only got to drive it for about a week! Then it all went downhill from there lol.
