Well I see from your avatar picture you drag race....and if that is your thoughts to do with this rear and big slicks... it is not your correct choice. LOL. :)

You can not simple ask a question like that...Well I guess you could... MAYBE I should say ' not answer a question like that.'
ALL muscle cars back in the day had these rears under them and they held up well.

On the Street you will not have any problems with any rear that is built properly. When you go to the drag race track is when you will have issues and you will have issues with ANY REAR END.... The track is unpredictable at best. Then throw stick shift in there and double the torque from NEW fuel injected computer control engines better grip from tires compound etc. and the track is a dangerous place to play .

So you can answer you own question by simply knowing where you are going to play most.

We all will take our cars to the track at least once or twice to see what it will run and the rear should not have any issues...but week in and week out of racing it will fail as ALL engines, transmissions and rears will in a short time.

So on the street there is really not HP or Torque limit to any automobile well built rear end. Reason: the power can never hook up on the pavement. NOW that is not to say if you do a burn out in a bumpy chuck hole riddled road you may snap something or go from gravel to pavement etc. But that is from unreasonable thoughtless driving (16-21 year old driving technique usually...lol.:) )

Hope you understand why we do not put HP or torque rating to rears. YES, you can do a test with machines but is that really a real answer you want. Not exactly realistic.
That is like engine torque and HP rating with out a trans or rear end hooked to it and suspension to put the power to the ground.

A used bigger ring gear Dana 60 or 12 bolt Chevy will be no better than or even a time bomb compared to a 10 bolt well built with aftermarket better designed posi gears and new bearings with new parts and tighter tolerances than a 40-50 year old rear.

What is your combo and what will you be using the rear to do? Then maybe we can brainstorm if it might or might not work for you, Jim

Thanks Jim you are right I probably should figure out what direction I am heading first.

I have a 455 in a 65 special right now with a stock one wheel squeal about 500 horse and I am just itching to drive it once in a while.

I will probably wait and just buy a good 9 inch thaks Glen
