12 bolt full size car posi rear end

    new 3.55 gears
    reconditioned gm eaton posi unit
    31 spline axles gm
    bearing and seal kit installed
    12" optional gm backing plates

pretty sure it was from a 88 98 olds rear but may fit the buick full size cars. Please do your home work as we do not have the chassis to see how different the spring perches are from car to car in the gm b body platform in this era.

Big car rears with this steeper gear ratio are hard to find and this one has new 3.55 gears from fabcraft metal works (machined by richmond performance gears)

pictures are of the actual rear end.

Wow that is awesome. I WILL study the photos for application to the Wildcat.

My 1970 Wildcat has a different rear axle support system. I do not have the 2 chassis mounting things close to the pumpkin. My rear axle is attached to the frame close to the drums using bars that come up and have the coil springs also between this point and a chassis welded platform.

I wonder if there was a difference between full size Olds 98 and Buick Electra and the LeSabre/88/Wildcat platform.

For me, given my vehicle has a "PO" code 2.78 rear axle I doubt the 3.55 ring and pinion/posi would fit in the housing as I understand there are limits in that regard.

lol. You have to have some form of upper control arm system. Look way upthere or jack the car up from the frame you will see them. Lots of stuff up there like exhuast etc. They are there. Jim

2 lowers and 2 uppers 2 coil spring perch mounts and 2 frame bump stops.
Riviera uses the 2 lower arms and one upparm off the axle tube and a pan hard track bar.

Take another look and see what you have.

    Hi Jim,
This looks like the thing I have been looking for. I have a 70 Wildcat Conv. with a moderate 462 Stage 1 engine and a built t-400 transmission. Car still needs more at takeoff and some engine braking on the road (stock 9 3/8 2.78 posi). Car has a four link rear. Does it have C-clips of Buick type axle retainers? I live in NY state what would shipping add to cost?
Looks like what I've been looking for for a long time. I was going to give up and have something made up with a 9 inch.
