i have a 3.42 rear in my 71 gs what im looking for is a 10bolt posi traction unit with 27 spline or the 2 cones+gears the rear is a 1972 the axle are b+p with 27 spline everything in car has been redone so would like new if possible thanks wilson1:grin:ray:
Should be an 8.5 10 bolt. You can order everything you want right out of a Jegs or Sumitt catalog. Parts availability is excellent for the 8.5. PM Monzaz for the best prices.
Why do you think you have 27 spline? All the rears are 28 spline 1964-1970 are 28 spline 60 degree cut spline All 1971-1972 are 45 degree cut spline 28 spline. I have posi units, rebuild kits, gears etc. I think we need to ID the rear you have - Please show rear cover pictures and or casting numbers from the cast center of the housing. Jim Is the u-joint held in with u-bolts and nuts or 2 straps and 4 fine thread bolts?

Ah Hello.... I am writing right here for you? Jim THIS is the terrible BUSY time in the spring I am working my but off trying to get everyone's rears and orders out. Please use the forum here or mine to get answers the phone is a tough answer when hands are full of grease and oil and noise etc. I apologize for that. You need to post pictures of the posi units housing to ID what kind it is so i can try to match something up IF I Have it. 27 spline will NOT be the axle spline count. 28 is all the 10 bolt Buick rears had./ Please double check that so you have the correct unit. Dodge 8.25 unit is 27 and 29 spline. I sometimes have parts But they are hard to come by as people that blow them u usually throw them out WHICH I WISH they did not. There is always something to scavenge for another posi. PLEA - Guys do not throw out your old posi units please I will pay the shipping for the parts. We it Should be a 10 bolt 8.5 rear...BUT you really should post a picture just to be sure. As NO ONE wants to pay for return shipping because someone transplanted a rear under your car different than what it was suppose to be. We have New 3.08 gears for 155.00 And also have good used GM gears for 60.00 MASTER Rebuild kit is 89.00 (everything needed to install all new parts in the center section and set up any ratio) Axle bearing and seal kit 69.00 and included bearings and seals for BOTH AXLES Jim JD

I agree with Monzaz, post a picture of the rear end for a positive ID. Contact Ken at Everyday Performance if you are looking for some parts that Jim (Monzaz) does not have.
