Does anyone have a good set of 3.42 gears for a 9 3/8 they would like to trade for a 9 3/8 2.73-3.23 posi section? thanks!
No one have any?I know their hard to come by,but i would think someone would help a fellow b-body owner out
I've been looking for the same gear set for years. Not available anywhere. If you happen to find a set, grab 'em fast! Paul
I'm not sure what year Grandville you're working on, but my Buick parts book mentions something different between the 1970 and 1971 designs: '66-'70 Wildcat, Electra and Riv used P/N 1394087 for a 3.42:1 gearset. '71-'72 LeSabre, Wildcat, Electra and Riv used P/N 231123 for a 3.42 gearset. I don't have info after 1972, sorry. Devon
My grandville is a 74,but it has a rearend from a 73 riv gs under it....so any 71-75 9 3/8 gears will work..have 3.23's now... thanks
This one could be tricky...do you know if the 3.42 carrier is the same as the carrier for the 3.23's & lower numbers? I know for the earlier models that going up to 3.42:1 from 3.23:1 requires a different carrier. I just don't know about the later designs. Devon
I believe you can... just have to have a 1/4 spacer made and it will work....hopefully oph chimes in here....
probably not worth the effort to change to a 3.42...if you already have 3.23's.....the posi is what is important :Smarty: I would eventually like to find a 2.93 posi and take the 3.42 back out...
 I would.... eventually..... like to find a 2.93 posi and take the 3.42 back out... not now.... maybe in the future I'll change it back... Mark :bglasses:
I have a 71 Riv with a 3.42 posi. Don't know the value of it but I've seen 8.5" units going for $500-$600. I know there are more 8.5" units than 9 3/8. I would let it go for $500 plus shipping. Worked fine when parked, been sitting for 10-15 yrs. I am located in Quincy,Il.
