Im having a crazy idea of putting in a mid to late 80's 3.8 v6. The motor i have found is port fuel injected? " not sure" I was wondering if the 3.8 will mount into nest of my 3.1? will the 3.1 intake fit on a 3.8? This is a 1992 isuzu rodeo with the GM 3.1 v6 and i figured if the intake would swap on, maybe it would be a great upgrade.

    The intakes won't swap. 3.1 is a 60 degree V, 3.8 is a 90 degree V.

2 totally different motors. Not much of anything is interchangable. If your looking for a little more all you can do is find a 3.4 motor. Thats about it. Everything will interchange there. OHV stuff only.

    NJBuickRacer I'd rather be racing...

3800 V6 engines have the same bellhousing as a 60 degree V6...Should bolt right up to the trans. Fab some mounts, and you'll have to come up with a solution for engine management. You'll need the intake and accessories from a 4th gen f-body with the 3.8 engine.

You'll start to see more of the newer 60* engines in the junkyards. The Caddies & Pontiacs(probably others too) have used/are using the 3.5/3.6/3.9l 60* V6 engines. Some were just a bigger version of the 3.1/3.4l, while others are the 'High Feature' DOHC version.

They're supposed to put out a decent amount of power. I just can't seem to 'get into' those Chevy 6's....not when the 3800 is such a good & simple engine.
