I've not had the stated problems-not too sure the policy change is a help but, in the past, it saved me from bidding against a pal or somebody that I knew was going to own the item no matter the price-

I think the hidden bidder only kicks in after $200. I too have not bid on items that I know the high bidder.

Doesn't $560 for a bare DQ casting only seem outrageous? Weren't these things regularly going for around $300 recently? I have to think the hidden bidder issue is a factor in that auction.

Yes it does seem high but there were 3 bidders in the $300+ area. Most ebay intakes have been in the $300 area lately. There are also the ones that have a carb or two, or the wrong carbs or other bits and pieces need to complete a set up. The complete ones bring $$$$. There are some sublte differences between the 64 and the 65/66 intakes that MAY make a difference if using the other year factory kickdown set up.

The other problem is finding what you are looking for when you need it. Wild Bill is looking for an intake but I don't know what year. NAILHEADINAGS is looking for carbs and kickdown.

It took me years to get my complete 64 setup. I had everything but the kickdown bracket for 2 years, got fed up and put it on the car anyway. Finally got a repo one and then an original and found out that my intake was the wrong year, swapped with a buddy and everything is good now.

How did the get together with Tom T go?

Got the car to Tom and I think we'll get something going. He gave me the correct kick-down bracket and the progressive linkage for me to duplicate. We plan to use the carter that's on there now that I got from Walt and another carb that Tom has from a '66 401 motor. Hopefully, it can be completed this week. If not, after ATCO. He's also doing some service that needs to be done anyway.

I'll let you know how it goes.
