Just to note my 73 had absolutely no rear seat headroom. It did have a moon roof but I don't think the few extra inches it took away made much difference. Someone maby 5' - 6" max would be ok comfy??
That 73 is also a deceivingly heavy heavy heavy car...

My $.02. I don't know why and never could figure it out but I like the 70 Riv's. Don't get me wrong 63-65's are the best and 66-67 are just so unique but as a DD I would pick a 70.

I have either a 67 or 72 on my bucket list in the next few years. I don't think you can really pick apart either of the cars as far as styling, content, ride and drive. I find the 3rd gen definitely have better driving manners across the board, If you are looking at it as the better platform only, I would have to go with the all around more robust 3rd gen, if you are going on looks I love both but the 2nd gens styling is flawless in every detail and has been recognized as such for years. I get the feeling that as an investment the 3rd gen will in the end outpace the 2nd gen. I think the reason I still have one on my bucket list is I am still just not sure which one I want. I keep hoping that right one just pops up and makes my decision for me.
