Hey all, I'll give some info on the car first. It's actually not mine, a buddy of mine dropped of this really "special" 1966 Buick Special 4-door last winter just to get it running again (been sitting for ~10 years). 300 V8 with a TH350 already in it from a 76 Olds.

Ended up with one thing leading to another, etc and by this past summer I basically had a bare block sitting on the garage floor. He's on a bare bones budget so basically it got a new cam (one lobe 1/2 gone), 4 lifters (one was on the aforementioned lobe), one used eBay piston, new timing set, and a replacement timing cover and water pump (previous hack). Also appeared like most everything was still original, fuel pump was weak so it got replaced as well as the oil pump. And the heat riser was seized shut so I just tossed that. Now I'm down to the carb. Already had it running since it's back together but seems like the carb needs to be "played with" to keep it going until it's warmed up. I'm not much of a carb guy so please forgive my ignorance. :D

This has the 2GC and I'm assuming it's original. It has the choke piston in it rather than a vacuum break. Do those pistons wear out? Were they problematic? (hence the change to vacuum)? Would a vacuum be a better way to go and can this be converted? OR Would an electric choke be even better yet? And finally, what would be the best place to buy kits/parts/etc? Preferably something that can handle ethanol since it's apparently all you can get anymore.

Sorry for the onslaught of questions but I'm open to any suggestions or reccomendations from the Buick experts here. :)
