Hey guys and gals. I finally got a 4bbl cast iron intake for my 66 300. Is there anything I need to know before I get a 4bbl carb. Don't know what brand or any adapters that I might need. Thanks

Check quadrajet power. Com or on Facebook. He has a quadrajet already set up for 350 for about 275. You wont be disappointed. Also check everyday performance he might have something too. No adapters needed .ebelbrocks require alot of internal retuning and holleys are alittle better. You will need a 4 barrel accelerator cable also. TA performance is the only place I know that has it new. About 40 bucks . I just got one myself. I suggest shaving your heads .030 while your there for an added bump. .060 if your adventurous. Then get .050 shorter pushrods from ta. It will net a full point of compression. Noticeable increase in power. Get a 2200 torque convertor also. You will have a lot more fun with that combo especially with a 3 series rear end

When I put my cast iron four barrel manifold on my bone stock 66 300 all the throttle linkage and kickdowns for the transmission fit perfectly. No modification needed. But, I did go with an AFB from a 66 340.

I tried an edelbrock carb at first, but the transmission linkage had to be reworked and I was never happy with it. I had the AFB rebuilt by an outfit in Florida and it has worked much better than the edelbrock. Plus you can use the stock style air cleaner if you have the four barrel base.

Gas mileage went form 20 with the two barrel to around 15-18 with the four barrel.

Make sure you get the gaskets on properly or the thing will leak oil like mad!

Disregard my previous post. I was thinking 350 engine as I'm swaping one in my 65. Got abit overzealous.:TU:

Forgot to add that a metal shield is REQUIRED between the manifold and the carb. Otherwise the exhaust gas from the manifold crossover will ruin the bottom of the carb.

You don't provide details of your car, but if it is an automatic and you want to keep the kick down feature and the two speed converter feature you will be far ahead to go with an AFB, It bolts right on and all the connections fit.

I may have some pictures of mine to post if you would like to see it.

So fab seems the way to go. What should I search for when looking for one. I was on rock auto as well as summit and they have some rebuilt carters I don't know if this is what would have come on the 65 lesaber or not. Also Russell from nail head says that he makes a heat plate for under the carb. I'm assuming that's what you mean. Only about $16. Andy just saw where you are from didn realize you where that Close. I'm surprised at how many Buick guys are in the area
