Ok so i have a stock 1974 350 2 bbl, looking at a qjet from Everyday Performance. I have located a stock intake locally. Being a smog motor am i wasting my time and coin if i don't do the cam at the same time??smog has been removed . I don't want to lift the heads just yet so this makes it a guess as to my compression ratio so new cam would be best guess. With summer on its way down here i just want to drive my new toy, then get into it next winter.I have been studying on here but have no locally knowledge to draw on.
With the 2bbl at the moment its going fine but i just want more:) don't get me wrong if i stand on the loud pedal :3gears:the 295s on the back light up,ok 1 will another thing to address further down the track..

So is it carb and intake on the motor or the shelf.

You'll notice a difference, especially at part and full throttle, do it:TU:

Why not throw a RV cam(small cam) in while you have the intake off. Something like 212 or smaller with new lifters and be set.

I agree, no matter the compression it will run great with a TA212 cam.... The intake and carb swap is worth good HP and so is the TA212 cam.

For now, just swap the intake and carb. If you set it up properly, you will notice a big difference.Worst case, you change the cam later on, all you are out is some coolant and an intake gasket.

Carb intake upgrade, good choice for improvement.
Do the cam also if you can.
