Hey guys, I got a chevy 250ci straight six in my 69 Special Deluxe and I was looking into upgrading a few things. I really want to put headers and a dual exhaust (not sure if that's weird or available for a non-V engine) and put dual-single carbs on it. I've seen a few intakes that would let me put a 2 and 4-barrel on it but wouldn't that just drown it? If so, is there anything I can do to allow me to put a 2/4 barrel on it? Thanks
I did this years ago. Going from memory on this so bear with me... If your engine isn't original to that year, you need to start with a cylinder head from a 1974 or earlier engine which used separate intake and exhaust manifolds; the later years use an integrated manifold and I don't think there was much aftermarket stuff out there. I bought an Offenhauser four barrel aluminum intake and used a quadrajet. For exhaust I used headers w/true duals...it was basically three tubes into each collector. I ran a warmer cam, milled and decked the head/block for 9.5:1 compression, I think I went 0.060" overbore w/cast pistons, high volume oil pump. The engine thought it was a small block after that, ran like a champ. Spend some time on google.com and I'll bet you'll be able to come up with a lot of ideas. Devon

Leo Santucci wrote a good book about the Chevy inline a couple of years ago,buy one if you are serious about the I6 performance, it has some good tips and figures.Now that I think about it,you can purchase it from the above site also.Good luck.
