Hello guys I was searching for info on hedders for my 340-4, and I came across this site. Apperently this is a picture of a Buick 215 with hedders. The picture is small but you can make the hedders out. The company D & D, owed by Dan LaGrou(810-798-2491). If someone here beats me to the punch line calling him about the hedders on this engine please post your results of the conversation here. Thanks!!!:Do No: [IMG]

Last I checked, Postons sold the last of their 300/340 headers about 2 years ago, and won't be making any more due to the slow sales.

    Just re-read your post and saw you've got a 340 in a 1984 car.

Must not have emissions laws in MS.

In VA, you can't register an emissions-era car that has a pre-emissions engine in it. Can't even register it if any of the factory emission stuff is missing or not working. And, every two years, the registration is dependent on the emission inspection.

Interesting how very different the state laws are.

Yes we have emission laws in MS. My car has been fully inspectected. You see must of the people that have seen my engine do not no what CID it is. They just know its not a chevy. Its my little recipe. In MS we makes laws to protect people not hinder. Thats why my baby will always have a MS tag on it. The swap was a breeze except for one thing the engine is wider at the top so, I had to cut and fiber glass my blower housing on the firewall to make room for the valve cover. I luv to see people's faces when they see my engine. I get a lot of flack about the swap on Monte Carlo SS message board, but I have yet to see a small block with stock heads and intake produces that much torque. This engine brings my wheels off the ground launching with a 2200 stall , 2 in collector to 2 1/2 pipes. I got some nice mods to the engine. The cam is from camcraft, charles cut me a cam that would do just what I wanted. A daily driver and weekend worrior! If you would like to see pictures email and I will send some of the engine. :bglasses:

    Thanks for the info.

In VA, the inspection system is highly computerized. The inspector types in the VIN, and the screen displays diagrams of the engine and all the required pollution devices. All the way back to 1968. No way to get past that.

Hmmm - have to check out MS for a retirement place.

MS is a good place to raise your kids, but that about it. I am moving away just a soon as I get my degree next spring. As for as the size of carb. I am using an Eldebrock 600 cfm with an adapter plate.

Very strict emissions/inspection laws in NY... but I live in a small town so a LOT of things like an engine older than your car get overlooked... and they don't put you on a sniffer... unless its lack of a horn... they fail you for that

I also have the Edelbrock Perfromer 600 carb. Very pleased with it.

Had to use a 1 inch spacer and do some work on the linkages to hook it up. Glad I did it.

Yea I have the spacer too! I notice you have the metric 200-r4 tans in your car with what size gears? How good is your acceleration from zero and 60mph? I have BOP TH350 rebuilt with a shift kit with the factory 3.42 rearend in my ss. The trans came out of my dads 75 FireBird Trans Am. I love the combination of my 340/TH350, but I have a 200-R4 out of a Hurst/Olds 442 that will go in if the TH350 tears up.

    Julian,

    Since I don't race the car, I can't give a 0-60 time.

However, the 200-4R gearing is vastly better for both low and high speed compared to the two-speed ST300 that my car came with.

The improvement over a TH350 won't be as dramatic, but should improve for you as well.
