215/3.5 vs rover 4.0

    :Do No: Someone sent me information on 3.5 vs 215 and it also contained info on the 4.0 but I lost it trying to put it on my hard drive. Sorry!:Dou:
    Can one or more tell me about the 4.0 vs 215.

    Do a search as this was discussed on this forum a little while back. I think the posts were in the small block section.

    Also try www.v-8.org.uk as theres a lot of guys with knowledge of the Rover engines there.

    The brief run down is:

    Buick 215 = Rover 3.5 (the Rover uses two single barrel carbs)

    This was produced for years then replaced with a 3.9 liter.

    The 3.9 liter was replaced by a 4.0 liter which is actually just the 3.9 but cross-bolted. there was also a 4.6 liter.

    I think the 4.0 liter and 4.6 liter both use coil pack ignition not a distributor and have a different front cover and cam because of this.
